Listing a product on AWS Marketplace

2024-11-13
Another question I often get from ISVs is- I have a product. I’m not sure how I get that listed on AWS Marketplace. The problem is- when companies come to me with that question, it is usually when their customers have asked them to list their product on AWS Marketplace or else the deal is off. Starting the listing process at this stage might be too late. Why customers insist on buying from AWS Marketplace? Continue reading

AWS Sessions Manager- How to use scp?

2024-09-19
So I get this a lot when trying to reduce customers’ costs. One of the items to reduce the cost is by eliminating the bastion servers. When I ask customers why they are using bastion servers instead of AWS sessions managers I get one of the following responses: We never heard of it It doesn’t support scp It doesn’t support RDP It doesn’t support different users We would need a different solution for our on-prem/ multi-cloud instances. What do other ISV do with Generative AI?

2024-04-20
The most common question I get from customers about GenAI is “What are other customers doing about it?” And it’s not a big surprise- Gartner’s study on what are the biggest challenges of implementing AI revealed that most executives find the following challenges: 1. Estimating and demonstrating value. In short- They just don’t know what to do with it. and 2. knowledge gap- It is very hard to find the people that have the knowledge, not just to do a POC, but also take it to production. Generative AI- Is it just a hype?

2024-04-12
Generative AI has been around for a while, but it truly went mainstream when OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public. It became an instant sensation, and now it seems like everyone is familiar with this technology. However, there’s still a lot of confusion and skepticism surrounding it. At industry events and conferences, I often hear the same question being asked - Is this just hype? To be fair, I understand why many people, even those at the forefront of technology, are still trying to wrap their heads around the potential impact of Generative AI on their businesses. Cost per Tenant - Lessons learned

2024-02-24
When supporting ISVs there is one question that keeps repeating- How can we calculate the cost per tenant in our system. And so I started a journey years back to find the secret to cost per tenant. I wanted to share the lessons I learned so far. Why do we need it? First of all it is important to understand the end goal- Why do you want this information. And the answer is different for different customers. Continue reading

How many AWS Organizations should I have?

2023-12-06
I get this question every now and then, when someone suggests “Let’s create a separate organization for that!”. So I wanted to address this here. In general, the best practice is to have all the accounts in one organization. and have another org just for landing zone testing at most. However, there are specific use cases where a company have more than one AWS Organizations. The reasons behind it are: Continue reading

What ISVs Should Know - Part 7 - QA teams

2023-10-01
So, after meeting with many companies during their move to the cloud, I find myself in two types of conversations: QA teams that don’t think anything should change as their organization is moving to the cloud. QA teams that are not sure what their roles should be now that their organization is moving to the cloud. I received a question from a load testing team leader asking, “If the cloud is elastic with infinite capacity, what am I supposed to be testing? Continue reading
