What ISVs should know - Part 1 - Intro

The unique challenges faced by Independent Software Vendors (ISV) during cloud migration go beyond what many other companies encounter. Unlike the singular impact on infrastructure teams, every department and team within an ISV is affected by this transformative shift.

Over the past eight years of collaborating with software companies, both large and small, I’ve noticed a crucial aspect often overlooked in discussions—the comprehensive effort required for a successful migration. While architecture changes are a significant part of this process (and, being an Architect, I can’t help but delve into that), there’s much more that deserves attention.

In the spirit of working backward from the customer, a principle ingrained in AWS, I’ve decided to share my insights in a series of posts. These posts are tailored to cater to readers based on their roles within the organization, providing a nuanced understanding of how cloud migration impacts various departments.

Now I know some might say that different companies have different products and different migration patterns, so I summarized the patterns of migrations I have seen, as you can see in the image below, and I will try to address them in the different aspects of each department.
